In this 1.5-hour course, you will learn the basics of nonprofit accounting. Simply put, accounting is tracking and reporting how your organization uses its money and other resources. The concept seems simple to understand, but you will need a firm understanding of basic accounting principles to effectively manage your organization’s finances and keep it operating successfully for years to come.
Objectives:
Differentiate between permanently restricted, temporarily restricted, and unrestricted assets
Read and create two financial reports: A Statement of Financial Position and a Statement of Financial Activities
Calculate five indicators of the financial health of your organization
Determine the best accounting software for your organization
Determine when your organization might need an audit
Discover alternatives to audits
